Prof. Dr. Zahid Haque has been appointed as Secretary General of World Sports Alliance, Intergovernmental Organization. State Minister for Youth and Sports Mr. Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel MP conveyed his best wishes and congratulations to Professor Dr. Zahid Haque for being appointed as the Secretary General of the World Sports Alliance.
In a congratulatory message, the state minister said,I am happy and proud that Professor Zahid Haque has been nominated as the Secretary General of the World Sports Alliance as the first Bangladeshi. I hope that with his assumption of this responsibility, the relationship of the World Sports Alliance with Bangladesh will be further strengthened and the country’s sports arena will move forward.
I heartily congratulate him on his new position in the sphere of World Sports Alliance,IGO and wish him grand successes on the days to follow.
Previously Prof.Dr.Haque was honoring the position of Senior Advisor of WSA for the Asia Pacific Region. He is also serving as the Chancellor of ASEAN University International, Advisor of British American University for ASEAN Region, Chief coordinator of Florida National University for Asia, amongst his many roles as Advisor or Senior Governing body member of numerous international bodies and organizations.
A medical specialist by vocation,Prof Dr. Zahid has a PhD,D.Litt, MBBS, MPH, D.Sc in Neurology, FAAFP, FIBMS(USA), FRSPH from UK.
Prof. Dr. Zahid Haque is a columnist, a researcher and an activist. For his unequivocal efforts in humanitarian works around the world in many capacity,He has been awarded some of the highest honors from Governments around the globe, such as KNIGHT Commander title from St. John of Jerusalem, as Dato’ and Dato’ Seri from the Royal palace of Malaysia, Highest Humanitarian Award from All India Council of Human Rights and Liberties, to name a few.
We are extremely proud of his illustrious achievements and especially for him hailing from Bangladesh.His main responsibilities will be supporting SDG implementation and upholding Sports Diplomacy.
